About PowWater

PowWater is building the infrastructure behind reliable, affordable water delivery — connecting fill sites, delivery fleets, and customers across our network. As we scale, we're looking for a Head of Finance to build the financial backbone that supports that growth.

About The Role

We're looking for a hands-on finance leader to own PowWater's financial strategy end-to-end — from the numbers that go to the board, to the systems and controls that keep the business running cleanly day to day. You'll build and lead the finance team, own our QuickBooks environment, and be the person the CEO and leadership team turn to for a clear read on the business's financial health.

Location: In-person attendance for all Kenyan candidates at our office.

Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Reporting

  • Own full financial strategy, budgeting, and rolling cash-flow forecasting.
  • Run month-end close, management accounts, and board reporting.

Lead cost analysis and unit economics work to guide pricing and expansion decisions.

Systems, Controls, And Compliance

  • Own the QuickBooks environment multi-entity setup, chart of accounts, controls, and reporting design.
  • Manage statutory compliance, external audit, and liaise with KRA and serve as part of the key contact on all tax related matters.

Develop and enforce internal controls, and financial, credit, and procurement policy.

Treasury, Working Capital, And Team Leadership

  • Optimize working capital by managing the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
  • Lead financing and bank relationships, including cost-of-capital calculations and optimization.

Lead and develop the finance team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA(K) or ACCA.
  • 12+ years in finance, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Advanced QuickBooks experience — implementation and multi-entity reporting.
  • Proven experience managing teams and building financial processes from the ground up.

A background in logistics, distribution, or e-commerce finance is a strong advantage.
