WE ARE HIRING: GROUP CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)

Packmac Group is entering an important new phase of growth, professionalisation and financial transformation.

With established and expanding interests across tea warehousing, blending and value addition, tea trading & exports, clearing & forwarding, logistics and trucking, we are looking for an exceptional Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to take complete leadership of the Group’s finance function.

The Group’s operations include Packmac Holdings, our core warehousing, blending and value-addition business; Freightmax, the Group’s clearing, forwarding and logistics arm; our growing tea trading and export activities; and our newly established trucking and transport business.

THIS IS NOT A ROUTINE ACCOUNTING POSITION.

We are looking for a commercially strong, disciplined and hands-on finance leader with a proven track record of transforming finance functions, strengthening controls, reducing costs, improving cash flow and driving profitability.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Director and senior management to transform an already successful and growing business into a highly professional, financially disciplined, accountable and performance-driven Group.

THE MANDATE

The Group CFO will take ownership of the overall financial health, controls and financial discipline of the entire Group, including:

  • Restructuring and professionalising the Group finance function
  • Establishing strong financial controls, policies, SOPs and approval systems
  • Ensuring accurate and timely management accounts and financial reporting
  • Tightening bank, customer, supplier, inventory and intercompany reconciliations
  • Driving strong and professional debtor collection and working-capital management
  • Reviewing costs across every business and identifying meaningful cost-reduction opportunities
  • Improving margins and profitability across individual companies and business units
  • Identifying and eliminating financial leakages and unnecessary expenditure
  • Developing budgets, forecasts, cash-flow models and financial KPIs
  • Managing banking relationships, borrowing facilities, asset financing and Group debt
  • Monitoring debt servicing, financing costs and banking covenants
  • Establishing strong treasury and cash-management controls
  • Strengthening procurement and expenditure controls
  • Developing profitability analysis by company, client, service, warehouse and business activity
  • Strengthening audit readiness, tax compliance and statutory reporting
  • Producing clear financial dashboards and management information for the MD and Board
  • Leading, mentoring and developing the Group’s existing team of accountants
  • Establishing accountability, deadlines and performance standards throughout the finance function
  • Supporting management on investments, expansion, financing and capital-allocation decisions.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We want a CFO who has done this before.

Someone who can enter an established, fast-moving organisation, understand the numbers quickly, identify weaknesses and implement change.

Someone who is

Commercially sharp. Financially disciplined. Hands-on. Analytical. Firm. Highly organised. Results-driven.

You must be comfortable challenging existing practices, introducing stronger systems and holding people accountable.

You should have a demonstrable track record of

✓ Transforming and strengthening finance departments

✓ Building robust financial controls and systems

✓ Reducing operating costs and improving efficiency

✓ Improving cash flow and working capital

✓ Driving debtor recoveries and strengthening credit control

✓ Managing significant banking facilities and corporate debt

✓ Improving profitability and identifying financial leakage

✓ Leading and mentoring accounting and finance teams

✓ Working under pressure within high-volume operational businesses

✓ Holding departments accountable for budgets and expenditure

✓ Translating financial information into clear commercial decisions.

Experience within logistics, clearing & forwarding, warehousing, transport, exports, FMCG, manufacturing, supply chain or commodities will be a significant advantage.

Professional accounting qualifications such as CPA(K), ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent are expected, together with substantial senior financial leadership experience.
