Responsible for dispensing medicines, reviewing prescriptions, counselling patients on medication use, managing pharmacy supplies, and maintaining accurate pharmacy records. Requires a relevant qualification in Pharmaceutical Technology and professional registration. The position is based in Meru and requires on-site work.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a hospital or busy health facility.
  • Must be registered and hold a valid license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • Commitment to providing high quality care and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense drugs to in-patients upon discharge and out-patients as per need.
  • Ensure educating patients with instructions for proper use/cautioning on side effects is done always
  • Scrutinize patient’s treatment sheets and prescriptions for suitability of prescribed drugs in relation to dosing accuracy, drug interaction and route of administration
  • Provide drug information to patients, clinicians, nurses and other medical staff.
  • Maintain an accurate record of all issued medicines in the bin cards. issue book and system.
