Search for Common Ground (Search) is an international conflict transformation NGO that aims to transform the way individuals, groups, governments and companies deal with conflict, away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative solutions. Headquartered in Washington DC, USA, and Brussels, Belgium, with field offices in 35 countries, Search designs and implements multifaceted, culturally appropriate and conflict-sensitive programs using a diverse range of tools, including media and training, to promote dialogue, increase knowledge and determine a positive shift in behaviors.

Purpose of the Consultancy

The purpose of this consultancy is to re - establish a fully functional podcast studio and a call booth at Search For Common Ground office in Mombasa. The consultant will be responsible for the design, installation, and configuration of the studio and call booth infrastructure and all required recording equipment.

Objectives of the Assignment

The consultancy aims to design and re - install a fully functional podcast studio and a call booth within the SEARCH offices in Mombasa, Supply and install

some

podcast recording and production equipment and finally configure and test the recording and editing systems.

Scope of Work

The consultant will undertake the following tasks: Studio Design, Supply and Installation, where the consultant will provide a re- installation of the podcast Studio, set up a call booth, undertake interior finishing and studio configuration suitable for podcast production, floor carpeting and Ceiling finishing suitable for studio use.

Acoustic Treatment

Sound re - insulation, Acoustic panels or sound absorption materials, Noise reduction measures suitable for recording.

Electrical Installation

Electrical wiring and power outlets and Installation of lighting fixtures suitable for video recording.

Climate Control

Air conditioning or ventilation system to maintain comfortable recording conditions

Interior Setup

Podcast recording table, Seating for host and guests, Branded background or backdrop.

Supply and Installation of Podcast Equipment

The consultant will be required to supply, install, and configure some required podcast production equipment. The organisation has existing equipment but will need additional equipment or replacements. A prior visit to establish a full list of supply items is recommended. However they will need to supply but not limited to:

  • Video recording devices (smartphones)
  • Tripods and stabilizers.
  • Lighting equipment suitable for video recording.
  • Editing and recording software.
  • Data storage and backup systems.

The consultant will ensure compatibility between all audio, video, and editing systems and will test the setup to ensure professional-quality production.

Post-Installation Technical Support

The consultant will provide post-installation technical support during the initial operational phase for a period of 6 months to ensure search staff can operate the studio independently.

Deliverables

The consultant will deliver

  • Supply and installation of all required podcast production equipment
  • Functional podcast recording system tested and operational
  • Final consultancy report.
  • Provide initial support to Search staff on the use of the studio.

Duration of Assignment

The consultancy will be conducted over approximately 30 working days within a period of six weeks after signing of the contract.

Qualifications and Experience

The consultant or firm should demonstrate the following

  • At least 5 years of experience in multimedia production or podcast production.
  • Proven experience in setting up podcast studios or multimedia production facilities.
  • Strong expertise in audio and video recording technologies.
  • Previous work with NGOs or development organizations is an advantage.

Reporting and Supervision

The consultant will report to the

Senior Officer - Media

and work closely with the Search Communication Team under the overall supervision of the Program Manager.
