The Public Service Commission (PSC) hosted a delegation from the Economists Society of Kenya (ESK) at Commission House on 03 September 2026. The meeting aimed at exploring a formal working relationship between the two institutions.

The delegation was received by the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Paul Famba. Mr. expressed the Commission’s readiness to engage with ESK in areas that would strengthen public service performance and contribute to national development

Economist Society of Kenya led by Dr. Dunstone Ulwodi said the engagement presented an opportunity to establish a practical relationship between the two institutions, based on their respective mandates and areas of comparative advantage.

The discussions focused on a structured institutional partnership between ESK and the Public Service Commission, which would give the collaboration a clear framework. The two institutions also considered professional development and capacity building in a bid to improve public service productivity, efficiency and service delivery.

Research and evaluation featured prominently in the discussion, with both institutions noting the value of generating performance metrics and impact of public service programmes. This was linked to the broader need for economic intelligence and evidence-based policy, so that decisions affecting citizens are supported by sound data and rigorous analysis. The meeting further reaffirmed the importance of constitutional values, ethics and professionalism in upholding public trust in the public service.

The meeting marked a step towards closer collaboration between the Public Service Commission which is mandated to promote values and principles in public service and ESK, a professional body of economists in Kenya.
